Alte Oper Frankfurt

Compact, functional and innovative: the "Frankfurt Kitchen" designed almost exactly 100 years ago by architect Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky for the Ernst May housing estate is considered the archetype of the modern fitted kitchen. The first edition of Salon Frankfurt not only tells of optimized work processes in cooking, but also generally of the ideals of the "New Frankfurt" of the 1920s, thus once again providing insights into a dazzling chapter of Frankfurt's urban history. The tried and tested ingredients end up in the pot: Texts, visual, film and audio documents, a conversation with a curator from the Historical Museum and, last but not least, the appropriate music for the topic. This time, the music leads from the Baroque to the 20th century, including ballet music in which whisks dance and music by a self-confessed gourmet.
