Das Mühlberglädchen

The Mühlberglädchen on Sachsenhäuser Berg - a kind of corner shop - stands for much more than just Lotto, Hermes mail order or daily newspapers. Opened in January 2007, the public living room of operator Zoltan Ajkay is a place of encounter, cross-generational for old and young. In the Water House of the Year 2017 (reading award of the Frankfurter Rundschau), not "only" the neighborhood of Mühlberg meets and exchanges ideas. The neighborhood meeting called "Langer Freitag" is now known far beyond the borders of the district. Here, there are changing burgers and an exuberant atmosphere. Almost like an Italian piazza. As part of the "Kulturlädchen" series of events, there are always small concerts, comedy evenings and readings. In the latest Frankfurt crime novel "Mord am Pixelstrich" by author Dieter Kaufmann, an entire chapter takes place in the popular shop. In addition to magazines, newspapers and everyday necessities, you can also buy delicious Hungarian specialties that Zoltan brings hand-picked from Hungary. Or even cakes, which are baked daily with much love by older ladies of the neighborhood according to their secret recipes. A visit is always worthwhile!
