Distinctive sound, breathtaking homogeneity, musical stylistic confidence and a fair amount of charm and wit are the trademarks of amarcord. The extremely diverse and wide-ranging repertoire includes chants of the Middle Ages, madrigals and masses of the Renaissance, compositions and cycles of works from the European Romantic period and the 20th century, as well as a cappella arrangements of folk songs collected worldwide and well-known songs from soul and jazz.

Open to the new, the singers place great emphasis on the cultivation and promotion of contemporary music. Although pure a cappella programs are the focus of their concert activities, there are regular projects with renowned ensembles and artists such as the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, the Lautten Compagney, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, the Vogler Quartet, the Ensemble Modern, pianist Ragna Schirmer, bandoneon virtuoso Per Arne Glorvigen, gambist Hille Perl and Friend `n Fellow.
