Uwe Oberg has a long musical friendship with the legendary New York bassist Joe Fonda. Together with Spanish drummer Lucía Martínez, they have now formed a new trio that plays as a collective - all three incorporate their individual cultural backgrounds.
Lucía Martínez, who lives in Berlin by choice, has a rich percussion arsenal and combines Mediterranean rhythms with avant-garde sounds. Joe Fonda is a sought-after bassist on New York's downtown scene. "This is a real virtuoso and composer of the highest order," Anthony Braxton praises him. This trio proves to be a distillation of the classical piano trio: steeped in tradition and free-spirited, curious and lusty - a rough, unpolished gem.
