7th Fabrik Jazz Festival: Eva Kruse Quintett - in the Netzwerk Seilerei, Oberrad - 2for1 tickets
Eva Kruse has already received many awards. In 2015 and 2017 she was awarded the Jazz-Echo (awarded by a jury) as best bass player nationally. Ralf Dombrowski described Kruse's music in the BR program All that Jazz as "atmospheric and obstinately pointed", Norbert Krampf called it "chamber jazz with profile and energy" in the Journal Frankfurt.
New Legend is the name of the new work that Eva Kruse recorded with her distinctive quintet in March 2020 at Svenska Grammofonstudion, Gothenburg. Over the years, the formation has grown together into an organism with a common, individual sound language. Interactions now sound even more lively, timbres even more nunacious, specific frictions more finely tuned to each other. The denser interplay creates a stronger live feeling, while at the same time the strengths of the personalities emerge more clearly. Tjadina Wake-Walker expands her virtuoso, classically trained tone with subtle improvisations, Uwe Steinmetz' pirouettes on soprano and alto saxophone sometimes intertwine so closely with the oboe that the instruments can hardly be told apart. Like Steinmetz, pianist Christian Jormin also performs a lot in churches, so both know about the effect of select, purposefully placed notes.
