Shaba - Pictures Of The White North| The pianist Andrey Shabashev and winner of the Frankfurt Jazz Scholarship 2022 opens the final evening of the Fabrik Jazz Festival with his band Shaba. Shabshev's compositions move in the field of tension between current melodic jazz and a modern production with electronic sound vignettes. His debut album Pictures Of The White North reveals many facets that reflect Shabashev's Russian biography and make up the individual character of his music.

Main Act: Rainer Böhm Sextet: What If | It is as if all the qualities for which Ravensburg-based pianist and composer Rainer Böhm, who lives in Cologne, is always praised come together and blossom in this sextet: His stupendous technique, his melodic inventiveness, his melancholic grounding, his excursions into elements of classical and contemporary serious music, his interplay of melodic design and chordal accompaniment, his pronounced sense of dramaturgy, his balance between improvisation and the composed, his high emotionality, his search for a roughened euphony and his rhythmic accents.
