Mainfähre Frankfurt

The "Mainfähre Frankfurt", is the only bicycle and passenger ferry in the city of Frankfurt. It connects the western districts of Schwanheim and Höchst daily and is located on the route of the GrünGürtel cycle path. There is historical evidence that the ferry has been running since 1623. In 1945, a courageous citizen sank the boat in the mouth of the Nida River, saving the ferry from destruction. After the end of the war, it was pumped empty and was able to resume ferry service. The Main ferry is named "Walter Kolb" in honor of the deserving mayor of Frankfurt.

In November 2023, opening hours in November: Tue, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Thu-Fri, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Sat,9 a.m.-4 p.m., Sun, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. (no ferry service on Mondays + Wednesdays; schedule deviations due to high water possible).
